Historical Archive F.A.Q.s

The Bloomsburg Greek Alumni Association feels it’s exceedingly important to have a place where greeks and non-greeks alike can go to see ALL the Greek organizations at Bloomsburg/Commonwealth University SHOWCASED…all in one place.

In the past, that might have been a function served by the University or Greek life office…but that’s not for sure. I personally don’t remember any such place created or maintained by the University…but perhaps I was simply unaware of have forgotten. I do know they had a listing of greek organizations, with links, but I don’t remember that place really being a “showcase” or any meaningful historical archive for Greek organizations.

The Bloomsburg Greek Alumni Association means to create this archive as a historical record of greeks at Bloomsburg and an opportunity for ALL ACTIVE GREEK ORGS to put their best foot forward in the community and to all interested parties.

Be that:

  • potential new members

  • parents of potential new members

  • towns people

  • University people

  • the press

So many folks might be interested in information about greek organizations, and presently, no such place exists…until now.

We did the basics

A greek Alumni (who wishes to remain anonymous) prepared some basic Greek organization profiles in the fall of 2023. These profiles were in no way “exhaustive” or meant to fully represent the organization. Conversely, they were ONLY meant to be a start to get things rolling. We would love our member organizations to take those profiles to the next level, and really make them a source of pride for their organization.

Be a member, and curate your archive

In the near future, BGAA will be introducing ways that organizations can take them membership in BGAA to the next level. Those higher levels will include things like discounts on greek clothing and swag, discounts to events and equally importantly: editing privileges on the Greek Archive page!

Click here or the heading at the top of the page to visit the “historical Archive” pages. We hope you agree that these pages offer a great opportunity to showcase and preserve your organization and its history digitally for generations to come!

For those of a certain age, we feel this is better than hanging a banner in the rafters or putting a beanie in a trophy case. You get some opportunities here to really let your org shine!
